Angelica has been prized since antiquity, but it came to France in the 12th century. Angelica essential oil has soothing and rebalancing properties. Angelica archangelica, or the herb of the angels, is a melliferous plant with roots that, once distilled, release a sweet-smelling essential oil with balsamic, spicy and slightly musky notes. Candied angelica stems are a traditional ingredient in confectionery.
